I know I'm a few days late and it has been a minute since I've posted but I wanted to write a few things about Health Care Reform.
I'm part of the crowd who went on rockthevote.com and wrote letters and signed petitions to make this a part of our reality. I even went as far as to call my congressmen (women) to discuss how important it was for people in my age range (20-29) to be insured. I watched "Sicko", have seen my parents as well as myself lose coverage based on ridiculous regulations and even spread the good word via my twitter.
But I was hit with many people going against me. Some even going as far as to claim Obama is not fit to be our president.
Now hold up!
Where was all this when President Bush said "What's the Taliban, is that a rock group or something?!?" Where was all this when his administration lead us into this recession? Where were these frustrated people when news reporters told Cheney "Americans are not with this war" to which he replied "and?!" Where were these people when we should have spoken up?
Do you even know how HMO started? Well let me show you some video about it:
This is an excerpt from the documentary "Sicko" by Michael Moore; you should take the time to watch it.
This is something that people all around you have been affected by. This was a war that has been raging on our streets for years before we finally got a President who actually cares about his constituents. It's unbelievably unfair to mark the minutes and days that he has been in office as if he can change 8 years of poor leadership in 1 year.
There are people still arguing if President Obama is even American, calling him a socialist and even going as far as to disrespect his authority. (ahem, assembly man who yelled out at him!).
I mean the tea party people? What are you mad about? If you saved your money all this time, the recession shouldn't be affecting you.
Here President Obama and his administration passed one of the most important bills into law and some who are benefited are acting crazy.
But I think I know what the real problem here is. It's race rearing its ugly head again. We have a Black President, a women Speaker of the House, a Latina as Supreme Court Justice and an openly gay man in a position of political power. Shouldn't this bring us together?
This is the first time where we are all being represented in government. We have a chance now and here some of us are allowing racism to hinder our progress.
Pay attention. I'm sure if you do a little bit of research you can realize how difficult this has been for our President and his staff. This is the first time all that are considered MINORITY are the MAJORITY.
We have a chance now to get things done that we couldn't have before. The best part is we started to fix one of the biggest problems in the US: Health care. It may not be perfect but it's on it's way.
DEAD SOCIALITE SOCIETY.

Summit on the Summit: The Episodes
I really have to say hats off to the climbers. Summit on the Summit was created by Kenna (singer; "say goodbye to love") and his father to raise awareness of water shortages and contamination. We're undergoing a serious epidemic and if we don't take action now we may lose 1 of the most vital nutrients needed to continue life. WATER! Yeah you're prolly looking around you and thinking to yourself there's mad water everywhere right? Wrong. We're either polluting it, or we're overusing it and once again we're finding ourselves in the same pickle we were years ago. Remember the campaigns all over NYC to reduce the amount of time we take in the shower? Or if its brown flush it down if its yellow leave it mellow? Okay I'm joking on that one but seriously, we're nearing the date in which our damage will be irreversible and if we destroy the earth we have, where are we going to live?? While we go out to clubs and waste away our days, we forget that we are all having children and we continue to forget that they won't be able to live long if we don't take action today.
By the way I may have skipped the fact that in order for the climbers to raise awareness, climbers that include Emile Hersh, Jessica Biel and Lupe Fiasco; they have decided to climb Mount Kilamanjaro in Tanzania, Africa. Meaning they're risking their lives to raise awareness and to make enough cash to give back clean water.
They created episodes and posted them on youtube.com to show how they trained. Some may be comedic but its for real for real for serious though:

David After Dentist
this is a then 7 year old David in 08. He had a tooth removed because he had a snaggle tooth or something to that extent. Although his dad had a flip cam to shoot his son having his tooth removed for his wife; I'm sure he wasn't expecting over 1 million hits on youtube over it. Though he did say that his son's philosophical approach to his medicinal reaction did not surprise him.
Shit; if I had a son and his reaction was as hilarious as David's I would post it on youtube too.
When I first saw this video I couldn't stop laughing. This shit is hilarious.

Movies I love: Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure
One of my favorite movies as a kid. I must have watched this a trillion times on channel 11. I have no copyrights to this and I found this on youtube.com. For the record. The one on channel 11 had all the dirty stuff removed. Like when you first get to see Revenge of the Nerds on HBO and realize those Nerds were some serious horny bastards.
RIP George Carlin. He played Rufus in this movie.
Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure in it's entirety. Enjoy!
Here's a good question? In the 80's Orion Pictures was everywhere...what ever happened to Orion Pictures?
eat the pig, eat the pig....ziggy ziggy ziggy pig!
Most excellent adventure.

Lady Gaga got my vote forever.
Recently Lady Gaga did an interview for Barbara Walters year end Most Fascinating People. This year Gaga was no doubt the most fascinating of all the entertainers. I was drawn to her performance art; a scene that is common in NYC. Without knowing much about her other than I was digging her club music; I finally got to see her performance at the 2009 MTV VMA's and while via twitter people were talking shit about her I quickly tweeted her as an icon in the making. I knew automatically that she was into performance art, and I knew that she was bringing some old school performance art to the mainstream masses. I finally got to catch this Barbara Walters interview. The best part is in the end, when it becomes evident why Lady Gaga has gained so much popularity and why she got my vote so swiftly.

Jem and the Holograms.
***Remember the cassettes?!? I used to have them all! Including Barbie and the Rockers!!
Guess that's where my vivid imagination started from huh? They don't make stuff as cool as they used too***
When I was younger I used to play with the Jem doll that my sister had gotten as a gift. A few years later I would forget about her and her glowing star earrings only to find her once again during my tween years in the Dominican Republic. See, my parents would go back home to the Dominican Republic every summer. Sometimes we would be sent ahead of time so that we could get used to being there. It was a reminder for us that even though we were growing up American; there were 2 sides to our story and it all began in Dominican Republic. We would spend the entire summer speaking only Spanish and exploring our neighborhood back in Jarabacoa, D.R. Everyday at 4pm they would have cartoons on the national broadcasting channel the D.R. had and they would put on Jem and the Holograms along with G.I. Joe, Super Mario Bros and at times Transformers. Of course it would be completely SAP'ed in Spanish. Everything but the songs were in Spanish and everyday for 3 months I would make sure I was back home @ 4pm just to watch Jem and the Holograms. I remember that Jem and her band would come with cassettes so that you could play along lip syncing as if you were Jem yourself. I loved it.
this commercial brought back so many memories!
Hannah Montana is kind of an imitation of Jem the only difference is that Jem was way more fashion orientated and her story was way cooler. Plus Jem had the look and the life everyone aspired to have.
Holy shit I found more! I remember this!! My friends from my old Corona hood had this!
I wish girls now a days had the chance to be little girls without the constant torture of being told whats on the outside is better than the inside. Now they're all rushing to grow up so fast.
